Project Overview

Background

With a partner, Weintraub Projects bought 5 Willow Avenue, Nyack, at the end of 2018. The quarter- acre lot is on the northwest slope of a forested hill protected as parkland, facing into the small central Nyack hollow. When purchased, the only thing on the parcel was a dilapidated, 40 year-old trailer home, which had been vacant (although not emptied) for more than 10 years.

While the lot is amply sized, the slope and our interest is preserving as much forest as possible led to the design of a modest home. The intention was to design a medium-sized home with beautiful finishes and build it with our usual attention to quality and detail. A 1,950 square foot, 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom house with an open layout on the first floor was designed to improve the site. That square footage does not include the one-bay attached garage and the 800 square foot semi-finished basement. Following are the approved site plan and architectural drawings for 5 Willow Avenue.

Development Demolition of the trailer occurred in the late winter of 2019. Site clearance and preparation for construction occurred in the autumn of 2019, and ground was broken in the December 2019. The relatively mild January of 2020 allowed us to get the foundation for the new home installed before the end of that month.
